Our Parent Mentor Program

October 30, 2008

The Parent Mentor Program at the Portage County ESC is a grant funded program through the Ohio Department of Education.  The five school districts involved in this program are Streetsboro, Aurora, Crestwood, Rootstown and Windham.  The Parent Mentor is a parent of a child with a disability and is available to offer support and guidance through the educational process.  The Parent Mentor will also provide families with information on special education programs and community resources.  The Parent Mentor can attend IEP meetings or any other meetings at parent or staff request.  The goal is to build collaborative partnerships between families and schools to ultimately benefit students with disabilities.
