Alternative Learning Solutions
The Portage County ESC is committed to success for every student. The old Shalersville School is home to two alternative learning programs - Cooperative Learning Program (CLP) and Alternative Learning Setting (ALS).
Through collaboration, guidance and assessment, the team works to ensure that students who require a non-traditional learning environment receive an education that will provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to be lifelong learners and productive citizens.
Since 2007, the PCESC has partnered with Valley Counseling Services, one of the first behavioral health centers to provide counseling services in the school setting over 25 years ago, and believes the integration of mental health services is a large part of continued success. In addition, the consultive model of Attachment Therapy provided by Educational Alternatives is also incorporated.
