Hiring Fair 2012 a HUGE Success!

Success!
When judging the success of a job fair, numbers aren't enough. Numbers like 22, 100 and 200 are meaningless without reality.
The Portage County Hiring Fair @Southeast was held yesterday. High school seniors seeking jobs were allowed early access and found entry level jobs they could work now. At 3pm the fair opened to the public and 22 companies were ready with more than 200 real, "NOW" jobs available! Just imagine the economic impact to Portage County if 200 jobs were filled!
By 6pm, more than 100 jobseekers had attended and found employers ready to interview them on the spot. One jobseeker reported having had two interviews while at the hiring fair, with another coming up the next week. Tables in the middle of the fair were constantly in use by jobseekers completing applications and then being interviewed by company representatives.
Success? When 22 employers gather with more than 200 available jobs, and they are excited by being able to find jobseekers they need, and the 100+ jobseekers mostly found more than one available position available to them, that is success!
More success? Employers reported to us that most likely 20 job seekers were either hired or offered positions at the fair!
Many thanks to the Alliance Review and Ravenna Courier for assistance in promoting the fair, Southeast High School (and district) for providing a wonderful space for the fair and all the committee members (Portage County Educational Service Center, Portage Workforce Development, Hiram College Career Center) for their assistance and hard work in producing this event!
